SHOCK: Maseno University VC Prof Makawiti used students (SOMU) to threaten and beat up striking workers

A lot of shit seems to be going on at Lake Victoria ‘floating’ university – Maseno University – after two Luos occupying higher and lower positions in the institution sandwiched penniless workers between the arrogance of Vice Chancellor Prof Makawiti and the incorrigibilities of current Students Organization of Maseno University President Charlo Juma Okisumba.
The borne of contention is the manner in which Prof. Makawiti handled picketing workers at the institution who had downed their tools. Makawiti refused to pay workers, most of them poor people waiting to take their children to high form 1. Charlo Juma beat up the workers under the influence of money and orders from Makawiti. Sad.
A student from the institution has informed Jackal News if things continue the way they are; Maseno may go under intellectual receivership as Makawiti – whose arrogance is well documented in the equatorial institution- uses force to have his way with UTENSU workers.
But more will be on Charlo Juma, the current president who is being accused of selling comrades for as low as shillings 300 offered to him by the Vice Chancellor. However, during the workers strike, and after hired goons failed to separate workers from comrades and beat up a student to near death; Charlo Juma and another known spanner boy called Ricky Thomas Nyakach hurriedly arranged a Kamakunji to cool comrades down while pocketing as high as sh. 50,000 being “tension management money” aka money universities release to buy off support from a select number of ‘trouble makers’ in the students council.

A comrade who wished not to be mentioned sent this part of the larger expose:
How Charlow Juma Okusimba and James Okumu were paid to use comrades power to force school workers into the negotiating table. The Vice Chancellor Dominic called Charlow and tabled him the following deal: 1. 300,000 Ksh. to be wired into Charlows bank account. 2. That Dominic shall support Charlow\’s proposed constitution in the executive that allows 4th years to vie thus allowing Charlow to vie come September.
3. Incase a strike came up, he would not be victimized. (That is why at the meeting, Charlow said \”We are giving them (workers) an ultimatum, and if not, we shall take over the school, YOU CAN QUOTE ME ANYWHERE.” All that in exchange for Charlow to use comrades to force the workers into the negotiating table with Dominic. Charlow of course saw that as a viable deal. He then contacted one James Okumu, the former SOMU President and shared a piece of his deal to him. That is 100,000 Ksh. They then summoned comrades with the help of their spanner boy Ricky Thomas Nyakach who came along with one Murunga Edgar Muliro. They then told the comrades what they were told to say, and of course the spanner boy had the chance to speak considering that the two are grooming him to be their next President project. They then walked to Tsunami where the same process was repeated. They then walked to the football pitch being led by Thomas Nyakach where they threatened the poor workers giving them an ultimatum of 2 hours or else. . .” shit happening in Maseno.
The comrades are now telling their president to watch out as comrades are very priceless.
Finally, here is a memo the Vice Chancellor gave when things took an ugly turn. “I will address all staff members of the University on the imminent, current industrial relation issues, real or imaginary, local and national facing our staff. You are all invited. Be punctual.”
